I have an undergrad in theology from Christendom College (shout out to liberal arts grads!) and I'm now working on my Master's in psychology. (And while we're on that subject, does the overtired, stressed-out mom of three children under the age of five actually achieve more or less sanity by studying psychology every spare minute that the kids are not underfoot??? The verdict is still out on that one.) Yes, I've still got a lot to learn about the world.
Especially about my Vocation to marriage. Is it just me, or is the life of a wife and mom a serious battle in the trenches so many days?
Life is beautiful. And hard. And that's why I love Blessed Zelie.
She knows what it's like to build a domestic church amid the agony and the ecstasy of the daily grind. She was the mother of nine, a talented homemaker, and a savvy business woman. She loved her husband fiercely, and Our Lord even more. She suffered the loss of four children, and endured an excruciating battle with breast cancer.
And she was the mother of the Little Flower.
How did she do it? I'm on a quest to find out (I started with this book.)
Her upcoming canonization, along with her husband, Louis, is proof that heroic virtue in the Vocation of marriage is possible. And not only that; it's desirable. Zelie makes holiness look good.
Will you join me in learning from Blessed Zelie what it means to live out heroic virtue in the joys and trials of "ordinary" life?
With God, ordinary can be extraordinary.
